Chapter 5 Blog Post

In chapter 5, we learned about the Fur Trade Era, and the four major companies that existed during this time; Northwest Fur Company, the Pacific Fur Company, the Rocky Mountain Fur Company, and the Hudson’s Bay Company. The thing that I will remember the most is the way that both British and American companies are running in the same area. Near the end of the fur trade era, one company, the Hudson’s Bay Company, had pretty much monopolized the fur trade industry. The merged with their rival, the Northwest Fur Company, 8 years after the Pacific Fur Company was sold to the British.

Washington State History Blog, Ch3

In chapter 3, the thing I will remember the most is the way the Coastal Indians lived. What I learned is that even though they didn’t have our modern technology and were shut out from the rest of the worlds advancements, they still flourished in the Pacific Northwest. This is an important part of our states history because the Coastal Indians were some of the first people to live in Washington State, and many still live here today.

Muhammad Book Reflection

Overall, I think I did pretty good on this project. I spread the time making it evenly so that I didnt have to rush near the end. I also did pretty good on the content in each summary. The pictures, though, weren’t as great. If I could change something about the project I would probably change my pictures to be a little more artistic.

I prefer projects over quizzes, because you can plan your week around them, unlike quizzes. With quizzes, you need to study the day before the quiz, but with projects, you have control over when you do it.

Time Traveling to the Arabian Peninsula

The Arabian Peninsula can be a harsh and barren environment to live in, especially if you aren’t adapted to it. So how did people live there back in 600 C.E? First, they became reliant on their camels. Make sure to get one when you take your time traveling trip. Secondly, you’ll need herds of animals for food and milk. Wear loose fitting clothes to keep out the dust and mites, and to help you stay cool. If you live near an Oasis, dig a well or two to make sure you don’t die of thirst. Also, use your date palm trees to help you build your houses. The date palms can also help you build a fire to cook your meat. When living in the mountains, dig a terrace into the mountainside to keep the water from running off the edges. Since there are no Date Palm trees in the mountains, use mud bricks to create your house. If the desert, oases, and mountain environments aren’t suiting you, move to the coastal plain. To grow your crops, create systems such as dams, dykes, and wells to help you with irrigation. For anything that you can’t grow, I would advise that you get from trading with other Arabs that visit you.

If you follow these ten simple tips, you should be able to lead a perfect life in the Arabian Peninsula, and you can stay there as long as you want.

Dear Mom and Dad,

The first trimester has gone great for me. In Social Studies, we learned about the middle ages and a little bit about the economy. In Language Arts, we learned how to write better and a little about our reading skills. In science, we spent most of the trimester learning about the Grand Canyon. In math, we did a lot with integers. I think I’ve done well in my classes, because I plan everything out ahead of time. To do a little better next trimester, I’m going to get work done earlier and procrastinate less.

Church Poem Reflection

Here’s my church poem reflection.

What did you do best at? I did the best at the amount of detail  I put in. I made sure to describe everything as best I can.

If you could do it over again what would you change and why? I would illuminate my T a little better. I didn’t spend much time on it, and the only thing that illuminates it is a snake.

What what the most helpful tool for teaching this and why? Our tour of Europe helped me the most. It gave me a better feel for life in Medievel Europe.

What else do you want Mr. T to know about this? I can’t think of anything else he needs to know. =(

Very dissapointing.

My first blog post.  Yay?

No, not yay. This blog is not very customizable. Very little you can change. I’ll just leave it as it is.

Blog up and running

Title says everything you need to know. After all, I’m very straightfoward.
